Wenger Men's 70891 Swiss Raid Commando Chrono Series Watch

Wenger Men's 70891 Swiss Raid Commando Chrono Series Watch Review

This watch is branded after the famous 'Swiss Raid Commando' military competition held annually in Switzerland and France since 1986 of which Wenger is a sponsor. The watch features the SRC logo on the obverse in color along with the French language motto "Vouloir, Croire et Oser", which translates in English to "Want, Believe and Dare". This branding may be important to a special ops soldier, military veteran or collector, but it should be understood that such branding comes with a price premium.

PROS:

Overall the watch has a heft and feeling of quality and refinement, it should prove quite satisfying for those looking for a unique style military piece. The stainless steel case is coated in black via Physical Vapor Deposition, or PVD which bonds to the steel on a molecular level, meaning no chipping or flaking and high resistance to scratching (as are the crown and two activators). The mineral crystal is slightly domed and without flaws. The screw back is non-coated stainless with the SRC color logo inset at center and encapsulated in what appears to be mineral crystal. On the back is also the lightly etched Wenger logo and specs.

*The face of this watch is the draw for many; a large clean, crisp dial in "nuclear green" with three sub-dials in the same hue. The watch is quite readable at most angles although the rather large arrow point hour/minute hands can obscure the sub-dials. If you want something strikingly clean and purposeful, this is it.

*The luminance of the dial at night is astonishing! Every detail is visible in the dark after just a couple hours of sun. If the watch is exposed to sun (even overcast, winter skies in the Northeast US) it will be visible throughout the darkest, moonless nights. I have never owned a watch with this ability.

*The rubber(*) strap is substantial and comfortable.

*The 30 minute/12 hour chronograph is intuitive and accurate. The lap time feature is easy to use.

CONS:

You can easily buy a watch with the same quality and more functions for less money. Without the SRC branding, unique style dial and Swiss caveat this watch would be priced 0 less.

*I am a fan of the accuracy of battery-quartz watches, but there is no excuse for selling one at this price point without a solar recharging system similar to Citizen's Eco-Drive. I purchased this Wenger despite the fact that one day in the near future I know it will stop working and I will have to take it to a jeweler for an expensive battery replacement/resealing. The Japanese have figured out how to do this, why haven't the Swiss?

*Lacking a screw down crown and only certified to 10atm is a bit lackluster for a 0+ watch branded to a rigorous military competition. I would be highly dubious of jumping into a lake or snorkeling with a watch lacking a screw-down crown. I own two Citizens (one titanium) rated to 20atm with the same features plus solar and screw crowns costing 0 less. Once again, the Swiss need to catch up.

*The crystal is neither sapphire nor non-reflective, add to that its slight dome and I wonder how long before an unsightly scratch? A rugged military time piece of this price should have a sapphire crystal.

*While the rubber(*) band is comfortable and thick, it's also quite gummy. Time will tell how durable it is but it seems as though if pulled too hard over time it might harden and separate. Once again I feel a military branded piece such as this should have been given a more durable band.

SUM UP:

While this Wenger is a quality watch and has some collector appeal, its main selling point is appearance, not function or economy. There are dozens of watches which perform the same functions with similar or better quality at a much lower cost. But if you're a sucker for a striking "nuclear green" on black watch which will perform perfectly until the battery runs out, then you'll buy one just as I have and enjoy it in the dark!

(*)It is unclear whether the band material on this watch is organic rubber or silicone rubber. The Wenger site states that the band of this watch is "rubber" while using the term "silicon" for bands on other watches. This is an important distinction and one which Wenger should clear up.

Invicta 8926 Pro Diver Automatic Watch - Luxury, Functionality, and Affordability

The Invicta Men's Pro Diver Collection Automatic Watch 8926 has made Invicta a well-known company throughout the world. The Invicta 8926 has been the watch that has kept the company in profits for a long time, and is therefore considered its flagship model.

The reason for the success of this watch is that it combines the best of many worlds: stylish yet classical, solid and dependable, usable for underwater sports, and all of this at a very affordable price compared to other watches of its kind.

In fact, many will compare this watch to the much more expensive Submariner. The Invicta is very well suited for submarine endeavors as it is waterproofed up to 200 meters deep.

Along with this waterproof capacity, the Invicta 8926 comes equipped with a 40 mm wide stainless steel case and a unidirectional bezel, whose coin-edge detailing makes it very easy to set.

The watch contains a black dial along with Trinite luminous hands and hour markers, so if there is no light in your surroundings, you can still know the time.

One aspect where this watch stands out from all others is in its solidity and durability. This is due to its scratch resistant mineral window which protects the dial from harm, and the band is made of triple link steel, which ensures that will last for many years to come.

As for its source of energy, you won't need a battery to run the Invicta 8926. The watch is an automatic mechanical, which means that it is powered by your own arm movement. Of course, if you want to keep your watch running you are going to have to wear it during most of the day, but when you start receiving compliments for your new Invicta 8926, you will never want to take it off.

Finally, the heart and soul of this model is the 21-Jewel Miyota movement. This movement is made in Japan and is well-known for its accuracy and affordability. Just to let you know, the Miyota movement is so good that in the 1980s it drove out European watchmakers because the Miyota could match the best European movements in terms of quality at half the price.

The Invicta Men's Pro Diver Collection Coin-Edge Automatic Watch 8926 is for those not interested in dropping thousands of dollars for a watch of comparable quality. It's a classical Swiss timepiece with diving capabilities that is more affordable than any other watches in its category.

Chopard's Haute Joaillerie Animal Collection With Playful Spirit For Ladies

Originally established in 1860, the luxury watch company Chopard now has built a great reputation in the Swiss watch industry. Chopard watches are world famous with fascinating design, high quality as well as accurate precision. To be honest, I'm a big fan of Chopard ladies jewelry timepieces. The iconic Happy Sport Collection with a subtle touch of luxury and femininity once greatly surprised me. Here I'm proud to present several playful timepieces from the brand new watch collection. I believe that as soon as you lay your eyes on them, you will be excited with their extreme interesting and innovative spirit. They are really true pieces of art and will sure win hearts of many women.

To celebrate the brand's 150th anniversary, recently, the fashion house is proud to introduce a brand new watch line named Haute Joaillerie collection with the theme of animals. The new collection comprises of 15 watches, featuring three distinctive designs including a polar bear on an ice floe, a monkey jumping through lush jungle branches and a penguin among his companions. All of these fabulous watches just testify Chopard's legendary watch craftsmanship and creation. Besides, they embody the company's top achievement in the field of fine jewelry and high-grade watchmaking.Extremely attractive and playful, they will surely hook women in search for special trendy look.

Have a good look at them. Dressed in 18-karat gold, these intriguing timepieces are equipped with a bezel, enhanced by sparkling diamonds. The dial of every piece exposes a mother-of-pearl background, which creates a vividly depicted scene for the bejeweled masterpieces. I guess some of you would be skeptical about the function of telling time since there is no hour and second numerals. Actually, equipped with oversized skeletonized hands, they provide the accurate reading of hours. The whole elegance is completed by refined straps in finely grained satin of various colors according to different watch design. The strap just surprisingly harmonizes with the theme of the watch model.

In a word, these chic timepieces are really perfect combination of luxury and beauty. In my opinion, they are not restricted to be roles as timepieces. Actually, they are really exclusive pieces of jewelry. I'm sure they will immediately be sought after by many of Chopard's female clients and fans. Would you like to treat yourself one? If you really like them, never hesitate to add to your jewelry collection. They will never let your down.

Invicta Men's 5249S Pro Diver Stainless Steel Silver Dial Watch

Invicta Men's 5249S Pro Diver Stainless Steel Silver Dial Watch Review

I was looking for a new analog watch with a functional bezel, and day/date calendar function. This one fit the bill, and at a reasonable price. It's a nice looking watch, just like in the pictures. It arrived very nicely packaged, with protective plastic not only on the crystal face, but also on the back and all over the bracelet. I haven't yet given it a good test of its water resistance, but it survived a shower without any problem.

A few small quibbles, not really complaints:

The day and date displays are quite small, odd since everything else on the watch is BIG. The date window in particular (day of month) is small, deep-set, and for some strange reason is framed in black - that makes the date a little difficult to read sometimes.

And speaking of size, this is a big watch. I'm a 6-ft guy, so although I'm kinda lanky I'm not really small. Yet this watch takes up my whole wrist - looking at it, all you see is the watch, the bracelet just goes straight down and around the wrist. Also, I had to remove ALL the extra links in the bracelet to make it fit on my wrist.

Lastly, as someone else noted, the bezel clicks 6 times for every 5 minutes of rotation (or 72 times to go all the way around). Not really a problem, doesn't affect the watch's functionality, but a little odd.

I had bought one for myself but in a bigger size, so when I found this one I decided it would be a great make-up gift for my wife :) Overall it's a nice, casual and non expensive watch, it tells the time and it matches with my watch. For the price it's well worth it.
