Seized Motorcycles - Find A Cheap Motorcycle At an Auction

There are a lot of dealers across the country who can give you great deals on used motorcycles. But another option that you could do is go to a seized motorcycle auction event and bid for a motorcycle that you like.

Auctions are a great place to find cheap motorcycles. Armed with the right knowledge about motorcycles and the bidding process, dreaming of cruising the highway on your very own bike will not be that far off.

Now, let's begin with the reasons why motorcycles in a seized motorcycle auction are offered so cheap. Most of the units sold in these kinds of auctions were repossessed or seized by the government from owners that were involved in illegal activities. Some of the units came from old stocks of the government agencies. Old police motorcycles and such are sometimes put up for bid especially if particular law agencies have decided to upgrade their motorcycle patrols.

Another reason is that, since the government was able to get the motorcycles for free so they can actually sell them at really cheap prices. The government is also keen on cashing out on these motorcycles since storing them is much more expensive in the long run plus as the years go by the value of the bike will depreciate more and more. That's why the government often times hold seized motorcycle auction events and tries to get as much money as they could from the sale.

However, precisely because a seized motorcycle auction offers cheap units, you really need to be careful in joining any kinds of bids. You need to inspect the merchandise thoroughly first. Here your knowledge or expertise will help you determine if the motorcycle is worth the advertised value and how much the maximum bid for it should be. It is common in a seized motorcycle auction that bidding wars ensue because of emotions getting in the way.

Never ever join in a bidding war even if you like the bike so much. You don't want to end up paying more for a motorcycle than what its worth. When you go to a seized motorcycle auction you need to set a ceiling or a maximum bid for yourself and learn to stick with it. You're goal is to find a perfect motorcycle at the lowest price possible and not the opposite.

There are also some things that you need to watch out in a seized motorcycle auction. One of which are phrases that at first glance are not that important but later on proves to be crucial especially when filing claims of refund, warranty and misrepresentation of the merchandise.

The word "As Is" is a great defense for any claims. Most motorcycles in a seized motorcycle auction are sold "As is" with not as much as a 30 day warranty in any parts of the bike. Sellers also tend to exaggerate and promise a whole lot of things during the events. Without any written contract or agreement it is very hard to prove that they promised this and that when they were auctioning off the bike.

So in a seized motorcycle auction your instincts play a little bit when bidding on a product. If you feel that there's something wrong with the motorcycle or with what the seller is saying, it is best to avoid it and move on with the other bikes for sale. Be wise with your purchase.

Watch Styles

Deciding on a new watch style means first knowing what is available out there. Understanding the terminology and the types of timepiece available is also key to understanding what you are getting and how much you should expect to pay. Movado may make fantastic timepieces, but they might not offer the style you prefer. Below are some of the different watch styles available right now:

• Chronographs; a chronograph is simply a timepiece that is equipped with a stopwatch function. Now, there are many different types of chronographs available, from the sporty looking to the very elegant. If you need a chronograph, pay the extra money for that complication, but if you aren't going to be using it, take a pass and save a few dollars.

• Chronometers; a chronometer is not really a style of watch, but definitely worth mentioning and explaining. A chronometer is mechanical timepiece that has been put through specially designed tests, making it highly accurate. Only mechanical movements can be designated as chronometers and this designation add to the price of the piece.

Luxury watches; high end luxury collections are offered with many opulent features. Many of these timepieces will come with diamonds and most are crafted in stainless-steel and gold.

• Sport timepieces; these models are generally functional. They might come with chronographs, laptimers, and even GPS capabilities.

The sport models can be very water resistant, especially the dive models.

Styles and types of timepieces are abundant. Before you start shopping for your new timepiece...know the territory well.

Big Face Watches - The Evolution of Watches

The way wristwatches are worn today and the way they are made has immensely changed during the course of years. Previously, watches were known as pocket watches when they used to hang down the side pockets with the help of chains. Slowly and gradually, these evolved into wristwatches and today men like to wear watches on their wrists for convenience and for the sake of fashion.

In the past times, when pocket watch was the choice of most men, it was the only device used to keep track to time. These watches became a symbol of status and position; the more well-off the man, the fancier the watch and its fob. Fob is referred to the chain and the cover of the pocket watches. Women's watches differed in style; their watches were smaller in size and hanged down their clothing as broaches or wrist-lets, which were highly in fashion those days. These were considered as fads in jewelry. However, their style was not so practical; therefore women thought they wanted something more reasonable in style and better in practicality.

As the time passed, men began to experiment with easier methods to check time. They started casing their watches in leather pouches and attached these to their belts. Some men also started attaching their watches with belt straps to wear on their wrists and this then led to wristwatches.

Bracelet watches were then introduced for ladies, some time in 1906. These watches looked attractive and were also easy to check the time but they were not so durable. Thus, the efforts to improve continued and finally durable leather watches were launched. Water proof watches and watches with calendars were then manufactured to make them more practical and useful in the daily life.

Big face watches have been in fashion for a long time now. Small watches are thought to be fragile, thus they are not preferred by most men and women. Today, watches are available in many different metals such as silver, brass, gold, and platinum. Topnotch brands also offer watches with studded diamonds and gem stones; these are a symbol of the highest social class.

Corum Admiral's Cup Watches - Fantastic Luxury

Considered as the trendsetter in design, Corum has debuted a huge galaxy of distinctive and glittering timepieces. Corum has enjoyed immense fame for its unconventional, extravagant watches. What most people might not know is the exquisite and seductive aesthetical timepieces that Corum has manufactured. These watches are certainly collectible and will serve as a lifelong companion.

Originally established in 1955 in a watchmaking forefront in La Chaux-de-Fonds in Switzerland, Corum has undergone a long evolution.

In 1960, the brand unveiled a collection of watches that have become synonymous with the iconic brand - namely the Corum Admiral's Cup. The 1960 version is meticulously hand crafted to perfection. The design features square shape that glitters among the huge galaxy of watches. It was named Admiral's Cup mainly for its super water resistant abilities.

In 1980, the Corum Admiral's Cup watch was rebranded when Corum was appointed as the commercial sponsors of yacht racing in memorizing the great event. The new version features a rounded 12 sided case with brilliantly colored naval pennants embellishing the bezel.

The watch soon gained quick recognition which needed no further introduction. Over the past years the Admiral's Cup has been updated several times with more intricate functions and trendy design. One masterpiece is the stunning Admiral's Cup Marrees. Featuring uneven tides functioning along with current strengths and lunar cycle, the watch stays true to its racing heritage. Powered by the first in-house Caliber CO277 movement, the splendid timepiece really deserves investing. Featuring hours, minutes, sweep seconds, date, moon phase, tides and strengths of tides, there is a limited production of 250 models. As a result, this watch is definitely a highly collectible piece and would serve as your lifelong companion.

Shopping for Ultra High-End Timepieces

Simply because you have the resources to purchase a $20,000 watch, does not necessarily mean that you have a clear understanding of what to look for in that arena. If you are in the market for super high-end luxury watches, you must consider a few things, carefully:

A timepiece in this price range will offer many bells and whistles. One probability is that you will find a lot of collections, which are set with stones. Natural, high quality stones are a must. Don't settle for synthetic stones, as these are less valuable and will bring down the lasting value of your piece. Not only should the stones be natural, they should be clear and of fine quality. Keep in mind that fewer stones of higher quality and clarity are worth more than larger stones that are of low quality. Looking at the size and the color of each stone will help you determine their quality, or you can take the piece to a qualified jeweler. Remember, that precious stones aren't required in a luxury timepiece, but if you buy one with them, make sure they are of substantial quality.

Another important element in a timepiece like this would be a manufacturer made movement. While most of the worlds watch companies don't make their own movements, the top designers do. Owning a piece, which has a specially constructed movement, will ensure an exclusive and valuable watch.

Luxury timepieces of this level offer many select and elite features, so be picky...you've earned the right.

Why Luxury Swiss Watches Not Only Look Good But Are Great Investment Vehicles As Well?

There's no denying that luxury Swiss watches are some of the best looking timepieces you'll ever see, and everyone knows about the Swiss legendary quality. But not as many people realize that luxury Swiss watches can be a valuable commodity in your investment portfolio as well. Here's why:

In a market where battery-operated digital watches are the norm, there is still room for the ageless quality of luxury Swiss watches. With many models being produced in 14k Gold and even platinum, the precious metal value alone of a luxury Swiss watch is enough to propel it into the category of an investment. But melting a luxury Swiss watch down for its metal value is the last thing you want to do.

Because these watches do virtually last forever, their value increases as they age. Take the 1933 "Henry Graves" pocket watch from Patek Philippe that sold at auction for U.S. $11 million in 1999, or the same company's 1939 "World Time" wristwatch that brought in an amazing $4 million in 2002. While there is no guarantee that a luxury Swiss watch purchased this year will fetch those kinds of prices in the future, you can bet that the watch will nonetheless be worth more as every year passes. You can't say the same thing about a Mercedes Benz or a Lear Jet, that's for sure.

And while it's the reputation for quality that luxury Swiss watches enjoy that attracts some buyers, others are lured in by accouterments such as diamond-encrusted bezels and the use of other gem-quality stones on both the inside and outside of the watch that also fuels their value in after-market sales.

Forget about investing in Gold or other precious metals. Even at U.S. $700 per ounce, you'd have to buy a lot of gold to realize the $11 million that the owner of that Patek Philippe pocketed. Savvy investors who are looking for the next big investment trend are taking a serious look at vintage luxury Swiss watches. In the world of watches, the term "vintage" is applied to any mechanical watch that was made prior to the 1970's when quartz watches took over the market. The more "vintage" a watch is, the more collectable it becomes.

The market for new, vintage and even antique luxury Swiss watches is growing bigger every day. There are even newsletters and web sites devoted to buying and selling investment-quality luxury Swiss watches and the asking price can rise as quickly as a hot stock can depending upon the number of bidders and the scarcity of the watch.

If you're looking for an interesting and history-rich way to add value to your investment portfolio, or you're simply dying to flash a solid gold "real" wristwatch to your friends and co-workers, there's no better way than to buy one or more luxury Swiss watches.

Bracelets For Men - 3 Outstanding Choices That Look Good and Feel Good

Are you shopping for the right bracelets for men, either yourself or a friend? There are many styles of bracelets to choose from, so it is sometimes difficult to know where to start, or how to pick one that works.

One good tip is to choose something that really reflects the personality of the person wearing it. Take John Wayne, for example, an American icon who epitomized masculinity. He liked to spot a brass bracelet in his movies and that supported his image as a rugged hero. Times and styles have changed, but men's bracelets made from alloy metals like brass, copper and stainless steel continue exude an air of masculinity and rugged charm that might be very fitting for some men.

Here are some of the top types of men's bracelets that you can find in the market today:

Men's leather bracelets

These are trendy bracelets that come in many variations, like the men's braided leather bracelet, or a leather cord bracelet. They usually come in brown and sometimes black as well. The textures of leather vary, and that plays into the contrasts and variations of men's leather bracelets you will find in the market.

Men's stainless steel bracelets

These are handsome bracelets made of a shiny polished or satin finish. It's an affordable alternative to platinum or silver bracelets, and has a durable shine that will last. Men's stainless steel bracelets come in many types of contemporary and futuristic styles. Some are accented with materials like black rubber or carbon fiber to give the bracelet additional contrast and style.

Men's rope bracelets

Rope bracelets can be made of hemp, leather, copper or silver. Some of these could be flexible and easy around the wrist, while others have a firmer shape with a rope design. Men's rope bracelets distinguishes the wearer as someone with a unique individual style or being an advocate for certain causes. In the 1960s, men's hemp bracelets were worn as symbols of advocacy for environmental issues. Today, they make strong fashion statements based on their good looks.

Check out more of these bracelets for men on the menscopperbracelet.com website. Learn more about men's leather bracelets or choose a good looking and impactful stainless steel mens magnetic bracelet that could alleviate pains and aches.

How Do Automatic Watches Work?

Automatic watches are the replacement for winding watches. Technology in the earlier centuries required that people wind their watches in order to keep them at the proper time. Depending on the watch it would require winding every 10 to 24 hours. There is a basic mechanism inside the watch that will keep it ticking as the hours and minutes pass by. As technology grows so does the advent of non winding watches. Digital and analog watches began to use batteries in order to keep the time accurate without the necessity of winding them. However, there are those that like the old fashion style. Since 1993 automatic watches have become increasingly popular.

An automatic watch is similar to the winding watch. The mechanism is almost exactly the same. There is a rotor which sits inside the watch allowing the staff in the middle to move the time forward. As it rotates it will start winding down. With an automatic watch you have a power reserve to help keep the time. It is necessary for anyone with an automatic watch to wear it every day in order to keep the time properly. After 10 to 72 hours the watch will need to go through its power reserve in order to wind up again.

Automatic watches do have a manual winding option, which should be used every two weeks in order to keep the mechanism properly lubricated. The bigger reserve you have in the watch the longer it will keep the time, so manual winding to keep the power reserve is also an option. Seiko is the most well known automatic watch, though Swiss also has a line of automatic watches. Typically, these watches are going to have quartz or crystal making them a more expensive product in the industry.

As a result of the construction of automatic watches they do need care. They are not meant to be worn in construction or heavy lifting industries. In other words, automatic watches are better for the office where they cannot be damaged. You should also be aware that chemicals can affect your watch. Shampoo, soap, and even water can be damaging to your automatic watch. This is why proper care of the watch is as important as knowing how it works.

Every year you will need to do a little maintenance on your automatic watch. This might require a stop at a jewelry and watch store. If you have knowledge of the inner workings you might be able to properly take care of it on your own. By allowing it to be serviced every year you are lengthening the life of the watch. You can potentially wait up to three years, but the oil could become dry and certainly will the longer you leave it without maintenance.

When you self wind the automatic watch to stimulate the lubricant you should wind it 30 to 40 times. Since you do this every two weeks it will help cut down on the maintenance required when you take it in to be serviced.

Men's and Women's Luxury Watches

Are you looking for a luxury watch? Are you buying watches for yourself or for someone dear? If this is you, then you have to look at the Men's and Women's Luxury Watches buying guide below. Reading further will help you find the best watches for yourself or for the man in your life.

Men usually do not worry too much about style and elegance; men usually buy things including watches easily as women do. While this is a convenient way to buy watches, choice of luxury or designer watch is important for many reasons. Thus, this Men's and Women's Luxury Watches buying guide is going to be helpful for you.

Things to consider before you buy Men's and Women's Luxury Watches

o Luxury watches are expensive; you have to know before going to the shop or website what is the cost you are comfortable to pay for your luxury watch. There are different brands and model for Men's and Women's Watches and you have to know which ones fit the wearer and the budget you have for it. Thus, the first step is to research online. Look for as many luxury watch options as possible. Check their prices and their specifications compare them and find the watch that fits the end user well.

o What is the occasion that you or the end user is going to use the luxury watch for? Is he an executive who needs to show this elegant taste in the boardroom or is he a simple man who just wants to know the time when he needs to? Know his style and from there, you can decide which luxury watch appeal to him and if you are buying for yourself, consider the occasion and decide from there. Likewise, if you or your man needs other functionality other than to tell the time, you have to consider this as well when buying luxury watches.

o Are you looking for matching watch for you and your partner? While you can always find unisex watches, luxury watches usually have specific designs for men and women. Likewise, a matching men and women watch may be available; you just have to look for it.

After you have decided on the brand name and specification of Men's and Women's Luxury Watches, the next thing to consider is where you are buying the luxury watch.

As mentioned above, luxury watches are as you know it is usually expensive and some may be beyond your league. However, if the price is not an issue, you can always go for the most expensive and elegant Men's and Women's Watches.

Just the same, both economic buyer and moneyed buyer need to find reputable luxury watch distributors to avoid buying imitations. Imitations are aplenty both online and off-line. Thus, you have to look for a legitimate distributor before you buy. Do not buy Men's or Women's luxury watches too cheap because the possibility of fraud is always present. If the deal is too good to be true, then surely it is.

You might want to check with the manufacturer's website for authorized distributors before you part with your money. Even if the vendor is not one of the listed authorized distributors, you may still check on them for feedbacks to ensure that they are reputable. Only buy Men's and Women's luxury watches from reputable vendors to avoid buying fake products.

Focusing on quality and innovation during its development, Burberry has gained a firm reputation for quality, design and innovative thinking. It pays great attention to detail, which makes its products stand steadily in the forefront of the changing fashion industry. Its reputation as a high quality, well-designed, excellent craftmanship coupled with classic style luxury brand has virtually guaranteed instant sales.

Luxury Wrist Watches

There were times when clocks used to be too expensive to be affordable for the common man. With the passage of time they become a necessity without with the house was considered incomplete. As technology advanced the clocks were miniaturized to portable watches which were used by both men and women either in pocket or purse. However, when a strap or band was attached to the watch it was looked at more of a female accessory. As time changed the wrist watches also got acceptance by men and today it feels quite strange when we see watches being widely used by both men and women.

A wrist watch is no more a time piece these days; it has become a notation of self expression. There are so many types of wrist watches to cater the needs of various age groups, professions and tastes. Unisex wrist watches are an expression of your unique taste with is characteristic of your gender. Functionality though is the prime objective of a watch however, since early years of introduction of a watch there is a concept of a fashion accessory that is attached to it. This is what makes the idea behind modern luxury watches.

Luxury wrist watches as the very name indicates are designed to sooth your luxurious self. Costly metals are used in making these watches; silver, gold and platinum being the most common ones in this regard. The watch is then embellished with precious gems like diamonds which add to the beauty and price of a wrist watch manifolds. This is what makes their place at jewelry shops. Designer watches also come under the fold of luxury watches. This is the best purchase for those who love to wear unique wrist watches which make them stand in a crowd and represent them as a style icon.

Unlike old times luxury wrist watches are not considered to be a womanly accessory; there are unisex luxury watches that are popular amongst men and women equally.

Luxury Watches for Men: Men's luxury watches are designed keeping in mind the taste of those men who like to wear their possessions with pride. These are heavy and designed like other men's wrist watches with the only difference that they speak for their extraordinary price.

Luxury Watches for Women: Women have always been associated with a lure for the precious metals and exquisite gems and jewels. A luxury watch thus is the essential element for the women who love to give a fashion statement with the elegant 'wristlet'. The band is crafted in beautiful bracelet style to make it a look of more of a jewelry article than a watch.

The first Calatrava watch was introduced in 1932. Featuring a round case and contemporary style, the splendid watch is ranked on the prestigious list of the exceptional classically styled watches.

The name Calatrava is originated from the name of a Spanish Order of Knighthood built in the 12 th century. The Calatrava Cross which was used as the Knighthood's emblem was chosen as the brand's logo.

It is remarkable that the Calatrava case is signifying the philosophy of the Bauhaus school of art and architecture established in Germany. Patek Philippe Calatrava watch is manufactured with much attention to the timekeeping function of the watch basing on the school's principle that form should follow function.

The watchmakers have modified the model with time passing by. Now the latest Patek Philippe Calatrava watches could be considered as the inheritor of the 1932 model as they have been the initial idea and taken over the aesthetic beauty. The latest Calatrava watch models have succeed and maintained the unsurpassed refinement among other luxury watch brands.

Smart Guide to Buying Watches

Shopping for a new luxury watch requires a bit more than just picking out the best looking one. Unlike jewels, timepieces must perform with very precise accuracy and be long lasting, as well as dazzle you with their style. Lucky for us the technology of watchmaking has advanced to the point that most watches are fairly reliable. If you buy a new Movado today, you can expect it to have a lifespan of many years; still it makes sense to go about any big purchase with a plan. There is a right and a wrong way to shop for watches. Follow this guide and get your search off on the right foot:

Shop name brands: top watchmakers are those who have been in the business for a long time. They have established a good reputation and consistently produce quality timepieces. I'm not saying that you need to run out and buy a new Gucci watch. On the contrary, many manufacturers like Movado create accurate and reliable collections at reasonable prices. Whichever designer you decide on, make the decision speak to the quality and workmanship of their pieces.

Set a budget: consider the amount of money you have to spend on this purchase and make it work. Don't go chasing after a watch that you can't afford, it makes no sense, especially when there are so many great deals and makers to choose from.

Remember that most Swiss quartz timepieces will be of high quality, no matter the price. The Swiss made label means that the watchmaker had to follow Swiss law when creating and assembling the timepiece and movement. Swiss-made stands for integrity that you can count on.

Finally, shop on-line for watches. On-line shops will offer the best selection and deepest discounts available anywhere. No matter the price range you are searching in, shopping on-line will afford you the best deals on any watch brand. On-line shopping is easy and really convenient and you can shop through literally thousands of different timepieces in a matter of minutes. You can compare prices and find out more about the on-line vendor by reading customer reviews, as well.

When you're looking to buy a new watch style is a major consideration, but one that is easily decided on. Other factors need to be given a closer look, such as quality, brand name, and where to buy. Consider all aspects of watch buying, before you shop.

Shop for your new Movado at Watches on Net.

Watch Straps and Watch Bracelets

Watches are made from a wide variety of different materials. If you are buying a quality watch from a reputable dealer you will be able to tell what a watch is made from before you buy it. These details can normally be found on each different component; the watch strap or bracelet and the case back. If you are buying online this information should be found in the product description.

Gold Watches

Gold is only used for luxury watches. There are two main reasons for this; firstly that gold is an expensive material, secondly that it is an extremely soft metal. Gold watches are dress watches, normally purchased for special occasions and are not suitable for everyday wear. One advantage to having a gold watch is that gold has an intrinsic value. If the watch can no longer be worn the gold still has a value according to its weight and the price of gold on any given day.

Gold Plated Watches

If you fancy a gold watch but want something more usable than a solid gold watch you can opt for a watch with a leather strap and gold case or a gold plated watch. Gold plated watches have the same lustrous colour as gold but come at a fraction of the price. New technology in this field means that instead of layering the gold on top of a base metal it is now infused into it (by a process known as Physical Vapour Deposition or P.V.D.). This results in a more even spread of colour and longer lasting cover.

Silver Watches

Silver is also a luxury item that retains its value. It is not as expensive or as soft as gold but is still a malleable substance which is why it is used so frequently in jewellery. Silver watches are more durable than gold watches but are more prone to tarnishing. Although this can be rectified by regular cleaning and taking good care of your watch.

Titanium Watches

Titanium is a lightweight and exceptionally durable material. It has the highest strength to weight ratio of any metal. Anything that is worn on the wrist is likely to take a lot of damage over it's life, so titanium is an ideal material to make a watch out of.. The downside is that it is an expensive material compared to stainless steel, so the cost is often considered prohibitive by watch makers.

Stainless Steel Watches

Stainless Steel is the most common of all metals used in the construction of watches. It is strong, resistant to most forms of corrosion and does not easily stain. This combined with its distinctive bright colouring make it an ideal metal to use in watch making. It is commonly used for watch cases whatever the strap type and is a relatively cheap option.

Rubber/Resin Watches

Watches with resin straps are normally designed for serious outdoor use. They are really tough and have the advantage of being both lightweight and water resistant, protecting the delicate workings of the watch. Often children's watches will have a strap made from resin for much the same reasons!

Leather Strap Watches

Leather is used to make watch straps because it is inexpensive, compared to the other products. It also allows for customisation. Leather can be dyed any colour. Due to the predominant use of buckles as a fastening, leather straps can be made one length and easily adjusted to fit a number of different sized wrists. The downside is that they are nowhere near as long lasting as metal straps and they can get stained fairly easily. Leather straps have the advantage of being made from a soft natural fabric, so most people find that they are comfortable to wear. Imitation leather is also available, these straps tend to be cheaper and less durable. Some people may find that they are allergic to them.

Webbing Strap Watches

Webbing straps are generally the cheapest of the straps on the market. They are commonly made from nylon. They are fairly durable and normally water resistant. They are often used for watches that are designed specifically for outdoor pursuits or for children's watches.

What Are Chronograph Watches And Why You Should Buy One Made By The Swiss?

A chronograph watch operates like the common stopwatch. It was first introduced as a wristwatch almost one hundred years ago (way back in 1910). This type of watch took off immediately, and proved to be very popular. In 1990, the famous watch making company "Swatch" helped to create a public frenzy for chronograph watches. The chronograph was invented by a Frenchman, called Rieussec, in 1821. So it actually took eighty-nine years before someone thought of making it into a wristwatch.

However, the chronograph watch should be more accurately called a chronoscope nowadays, as there is no real writing involved anymore as the word chronograph derives from the Greek words "chronos" which means "time", and "graph" which means "writing".

How it works

Besides general timekeeping on the main dial, they also have subsidiary dials which have a variety of scales on them, meaning they can be used for very specific time measurements. The number of dials on a chronograph watch varies depending on the design. There can be up to four dials, each one designed for a slightly different function.

However, it is very common for one of the dials to be situated on the number nine of the main watch face, showing continuous seconds. A chronograph watch is activated as a stopwatch when a button is depressed on the side. One of the miniature dials (normally the one near the number nine) will start to record the seconds gone by.

Purpose & Why Swiss?

Towards the beginning of the century, many Swiss chronograph watches were used by the military and sports people. This was because swiss watches were renowned for their accurate timekeeping and durability - and they still are.

In fact, they are still used in the modern day for this purpose, but many of the mechanical watches have been replaced by quartz versions as they can measure time down to hundredths of a second.

In addition to this, the Swiss have actually combined the mechanical and quartz technologies in some of their watches. This gives the watch buyer the best of both worlds - an authentic looking mechanical watch, which has the ease of use of an electronic watch.

Buying Chronograph?

Today, the wearing of a chronograph watch is more of a fashion statement than a professional practicality. The appeal of the Swiss mechanical watch seems to be its exciting, sporting image. It is desirable to the general public because it is the watch of Formula One drivers, astronauts, and sports stars.

Generally, chronograph watches are quite expensive and valuable. They usually cost more than a normal or automatic watch, due to the excellent craftsmanship and the complexity required in their manufacture. For a more complete recommendation of swiss chronograph watches, be sure to visit Swiss-Watches-Guide.com.

James is the webmaster of Swiss Watches Guide. Swiss made watches are not just for the rich and wealthy, and yes there are people who buy them for showing off but swiss watches are much better know for their quality and design. Basically it's a great form of investment too if you know which ones to buy.
