The way wristwatches are worn today and the way they are made has immensely changed during the course of years. Previously, watches were known as pocket watches when they used to hang down the side pockets with the help of chains. Bracelet watches were then introduced for ladies, some time in 1906. These watches looked attractive and were also easy to check the time but they were not so durable. Thus, the efforts to improve continued and finally durable leather watches were launched. Water proof watches and watches with calendars were then manufactured to make them more practical and useful in the daily life.

Today, watches are available in many different metals such as silver, brass, gold, and platinum.
